I love cooking, I love playing in a yoga room, I love crafts and working with my hands, I love learning new things and, above all else, I love forming relationships with people who inspire me to be a better me.
At the heart of it all, I’m simply a woman who has spent the better part of my adulthood looking for ways to treat and manage anxiety, trauma & PMDD (and their many symptoms) in the healthiest and most natural ways possible.
Hi! I’m Alexis.
A classically trained Chef, Registered Yoga Teacher and Ayurvedic practitioner, among other things. As a born care-taker I believe that food and movement are the most powerful and under-utilized medicines we can benefit from.
I’ve followed numerous paths and worked in several fields including military intelligence and finance before finding my passion as a wellness professional. Understanding the connection in my life as a chef and a yogi finally culminated in the idea of Yogi On Eggshells. While studying the 8 Limbs of Yoga and specifically the first limb – Yama, I was introduced to the teaching of Aparigraha – the practice of non-possessiveness or non-attachment. This teaching encourages many things including sharing, giving and working hard for the benefit of something. Only these practices will grant you true appreciation for what you have. And so, I have made it my goal to share what I have and what I continue to learn, with those who desire knowledge.
By recognizing food and movement as medicine, we can treat many ailments of both body & mind and gain a greater understanding of their causes. Learning about our individual prakriti (or nature) and working with that combination of doshas (constitutions) one can become their fullest and best self. So much of modern medicine aims to quell and cover imbalances rather than treat. I don’t say this to discount the many advances of modern medicine, but to encourage you to gain an understanding of the benefits of both where appropriate.
I hope you’ll join me for some self-care, find a community here, and learn some things that can benefit you for the rest of your life.
